Maxell has utilized their high definition tape knowledge to create a highly reliable DVCPro HD tape. With 126 Minutes of HD-LP recording time, this DVPHD-126EXL tape provides the reliability and stability users expect when using Maxell tapes.
Maxell brought their HDTV knowledge and experience to the table when creating their DVCPro HD tapes. Stable operation is ensured with the high precision cassette shell. The Ceramic Armor Metal Tape Maxell tape offers a special calendering technology that allows the tape to achieve high level output, low noise and low error rate. A low C/N ratio makes this possible. Along with the high output, low noise and low error rate, the tape features a optimum level of tape surface smoothness.
Along with creating a low C/N ratio, the Ceramic Armor Metal Particles improve the intensity of the magnetic layer. Along with the durable binder system, this creates an extremely durable and reliable tape that is capable of performing in extreme environments where heat may be an issue. The 126EXL tape is resistant to heat and oxidation increasing its reliability.
* High Definition LP Mode
DVCPRO equipment that is capable of recording in DVCPRO HD-LP mode (a.k.a EX format) utilizes a more precise record head that has the ability to record a track pitch that is only 9-microns wide. That is half as wide as the conventional DVCPRO record heads, which is 18-microns. Therefore, when using the DVCPRO HD-LP mode it is possible to double the record time without any loss of quality.
As of now, the only DVCPRO equipment that is capable of recording in the 9-micron mode are: AJ-HD1700, AJ-HD1200, and AJ-HD1400 decks as well as the new AJ-HDX-900 camera.
Keep in mind that a tape that has been recorded in the DVCPRO HD-LP (EX) will only playback on the newer DVCPRO decks that employ the 9-micron track pitch recording.
